The top 昀椀ve barriers to physical activity for adults
over 15 years in Victoria were poor health, age,
disability, time and motivation.
39,900 people (6.3% of women, 4% of men and
12.3% of non-binary people) over the age of 15
identi昀椀ed cost as a barrier to physical activity
Parents of Victorian children (0-14 years) identi昀椀ed
age, dislike of sport/physical activity and cost
associated with physical activity as the three greatest
barriers to their child engaging in physical activity.
People over 15 years were most likely to engage in
informal physical activity either solo (68%) or with
a friend or family member (50.5%).
Children (0-14) were most likely to engage
via a sports club or association (26.5%) or
private or commercial business (18.5%).
