13. Day Programs
Baringgurak (our journey) focuses on
strengthening your connection to and
knowledge of culture to support your
recovery. The 12-week program draws on
the wisdom of Elders and community
members to foster your personal and
cultural pride. You will work with a case
manager to create a treatment plan with
clear goals to support your recovery. This
program will help you develop the skills
needed to live more independently in the
community. The program highlights the
importance of community support and
collective healing.
The Salvation Army Building Bridges
program is a 10-week therapeutic day
rehabilitation program that provides a
structured group for anyone wishing to
address their substance use. Individual
case management is also provided for
each participant.

14. Peer Support
Peer workers in the Alcohol and
Other Drug (AOD) sector use their
lived experience as a powerful
foundation for building authentic,
trusting relationships with the
people they support. Through
shared understanding, they
provide non-judgmental, personcentred support, ofering harm
reduction education and practical
strategies to promote safer
substance use or reduce related
harms. Peer workers model selfdetermined change, as de昀椀ned by
the individual rather than the
service, and collaborate within
multidisciplinary teams to
strengthen holistic treatment
planning. Their role fosters
connection, hope, and
empowerment, reinforcing
recovery-oriented, traumainformed, and rights-based
approaches in AOD care.
